MEN'S TENNIS FINISHES IN 10TH PLACE AT SCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Southwestern men's team went 1 -3 at the SCAC Tennis Championships to take 10th place overall. The Pirate's finish the season at 4-13 overall.

Southwestern was matched-up against #6 seed Millsaps in the opening round. They started out well winning two of the three doubles matches but were unable to continue the run as Charles Prince was the long Pirate able to get a win in singles action.

The loss gave Southwestern a bye for their second round game in the loser's bracket and paired them up against Austin College in the next round. With a rain soaked afternoon the match was cut short as SU quickly secured the five match wins needed to move on.

Bebel/Reinsch and Bummel/Clarage won doubles matches while Prince, D'Art Bebel and Andy Clarage won their singles matches, giving the Pirates the win and advancing them to the 9th place match on Sunday against Hendrix.

SU was unable to maintain the momentum on Sunday as they secured just one of three doubles matches. Bebel/Reinsch once again won their match and Bebel continued his strong play, winning the only singles match as Southwestern fell 7-2 to Hendrix.

The SCAC Championships marks the end of the 2010 season for Southwestern. They say goodbye to two seniors, Alex Jansen and Charles Prince.
