RICHARDSON, Texas – The Southwestern men’s tennis
team finished up their fall season on Saturday by finishing up
competition at the ITA Regionals. The Pirates ended 2-5 on the
day.
In the second round consolation of singles action Southwestern
split 2-2. Nate Roberts fell 6-3, 6-4 to Schreiner’s Wells
and Corbett Austin fell 6-2, 6-2 to UMHB’s Daniel White.
Alexander Reinsch defeated Mitch Hallum of UMHB 6-3, 6-2 to advance
to the third round consolation as did Andrew Olsson when he
defeated Jeremy Hernandez of McMurry, 6-3, 2-6, 10-5.
Both players fell in their third round consolation matches with
Olsson losing 6-0, 6-2 to UMHB’s Aguirre while Reinsch had to
retire from the match due to cramping which game Roush of Austin
College the win.
In doubles action, the duo of Alex Lam and C.J. Esquivel
couldn’t extend their run any further and fell 8-4 to
Trinity’s Breitweiser/Stine in the third round main draw.
The tournament marks the end of the 2009 fall season for
Southwestern. They will return to competition in the spring
semester. Their first match is currently scheduled for February 5th
at the UMHB Invitational.
