Oscar Roy Captures Singles All-American Status

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Men's Tennis player Oscar Roy, a junior from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is the newest member of the men's tennis program to gain Singles All-American status for his performance in the 2023-2024 season. Roy finished the year ranked 20th nationally in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) DIII Men's Tennis rankings, qualifying for the elite award in men's college tennis.

"The selection criteria for Division III All-Americans are the following: top 8 seed in the NCAA singles tournament, win one round at the NCAA singles tournament, finish in the Top 20 in the final ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, win ITA Fall Regional Tournament, or win a first-round match at the ITA National Small College Championships (ITA Cup)" - Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Having already been named a doubles All-American with teammate Ashton Ellis for their ITA Regional Championship in 2022, Roy is now the sixth player in men's tennis history to be named a Singles All-American; in doing so, he is also the first man in the program history to earn both Singles and Doubles All-American honors.
