Roy Advances To NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Oscar Roy has qualified for the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships.

"It means everything to be selected for this prestigious event. It's amazing to see the countless hours of work on the court with my coaches and teammates pay off and I'm super excited to represent Southwestern on the national stage. I hope I can perform to the best of my abilities and we will see what happens," said Roy.

Oscar is one of thirty-two singles players selected from across the Country. The championships will be May 26-28 at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The draw for the individual championship will be done by the men's tennis committee and will be released on May 25 not before 12 p.m. Eastern time.

Roy, a junior from Toronto, Ontario, has amassed a 13-4 dual-match record at the No. 1 line for the Pirates and is 12th in the nation in the most recent ITA men's singles rankings – the highest-ranked player in the SCAC. He has picked up wins against six players ranked in the top 40 in the nation this season, including Michael Melnikov of Swarthmore and Raghav Jangbahadur of Carnegie-Mellon, who were both ranked inside the top 10 at the time he played them. Roy is currently the third ranked singles player in the West Region (also highest among SCAC players) and was most recently named SCAC Men's Singles Tennis Player of the Year.
