LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced the five finalists for the 2022 SCAC Man of the Year award. "The award recognizes the conference's senior male student-athlete who has best distinguished himself throughout his collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence and service and leadership," as publicized by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. 

Hunter Bajoit, the two-time Kassen Men's Athlete of the Year award winner, two-time All-American, and winningest player in Southwestern Men's Tennis program history has been announced as a top five finalist for the annual Man of the Year award given out by the SCAC. During his time at Southwestern, Bajoit has made the SCAC Academic Honor Roll in each of his four years and has been selected All-SCAC First Team three times for singles and twice as doubles. 

Under the guidance of Head Coach Billy Porter, Bajoit has qualified for the NCAA Singles National Championship Tournament twice, in 2021 and 2022. The last win of his career at the 2022 NCAA tournament notched his 132nd career victory to surpass the Southwestern men's tennis record of 131, set by Alexis Dimanche '20.

To be nominated, student-athletes must have completed intercollegiate eligibility in his primary sport by the end of the 2022 spring season, received his undergraduate degree prior to the conclusion of the summer 2022 term and had a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.500 (4.000 scale) with the noted exception due to COVID-19 pandemic. A student-athlete who received an extension waiver or a season of competition/participation waiver in his primary sport due to cancelation of a 2020 and/or 2021 athletics season or championship may be nominated for the 2022 Man of the Year, provided he otherwise satisfies nomination criteria.

The SCAC will announce the 2022 SCAC Man of the Year later in July.
