The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its final NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Rankings, keeping Southwestern at No. 19 and ending at No. 6 in the West Region.
Southwestern posted a 15-7 record, finishing as the runner-up in the SCAC Tournament. The Pirates had signature wins over No. 13 Wesleyan, the highest-ranked win in program history, and No. 21 Kenyon.
"It's a tremendous achievement for our men to finish ranked in the top 20 again. It's a true testament to us sticking together and finishing on a strong note after a rough start to the season," Southwestern head tennis coach Billy Porter says. "It marks our sixth-consecutive season ranked in the top 40 and third consecutive in the top 20, which is pretty cool."
Hunter Bajoit earned the No. 14 singles ranking in the nation and No. 4 in the West Region after posting a 16-6 singles record in dual meets, all at No. 1 singles. Bajoit was All-SCAC First Team and became the first two-time NCAA singles qualifier and two-time All-American in men's tennis history, breaking the program's career-wins record at the NCAA Tournament.
"Hunter finishing 14th in singles is incredible, as he's worked so hard to achieve excellence," Porter says. "It's the highest ranking in program history and just another accomplishment to his resume making him the greatest player in program history."
