Southwestern University Pirates sophomore Vesko Lekovic was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Tennis Player of the week for his performances from Monday, Feb. 10 through Sunday, Feb. 16.

Lekovic went 2-0 over the weekend against top 25 teams, Redlands and Caltech. On Saturday, Lekovic helped the Pirates upset No. 18 Redlands, fighting back after dropping the first set 3-6 to take the next two 6-4 and 6-1 at No. 6 singles. The next day, he was one of three Pirates to earn a singles victory in the 5-4 loss to No. 25 Caltech, winning with a pair of wins.

For the season, Lekovic is 3-0 with two wins in the No. 6 spot and a single victory at No. 5 singles. The Pirates are 3-1 on the season with a win and a loss against nationally-ranked opponents. Southwestern will host LeTourneau and McMurry on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
