Every Pirates' Doubles Team Advances to Day 2 of ITA Regional Championships

GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates men's tennis team opened the 2019 ITA Southwest Regional Championships at home with four victories in the "A" Doubles on Thursday. 

Alexander Joseph and Dean Dulthummon were entered as the Pirates' highest seed at No. 3 and defeated Howard Payne University's Gabe Benitez and Micah Hunter 8-1 to advance St. Thomas' Race Haas and Jace Ware tomorrow. 

On the same side of the bracket, Tashawn Treadwell and Vesko Lekovic bested Austin College's Brett O'Brien and Preston Spivey 8-3 to play No. 5 seed Carlos Martinez and Chase Daniell from McMurry University. 

Alexis Dimanche and Steven Tibbetts strolled through the first round with an 8-1 victory over Schreiner Univeristy's Luis Cabreja and Austin Cervantes and will play Concordia Texas' Joshua Rode and Robin van Der Heijden tomorrow. 

The tandem of Hunter Bajoit and Hemanshu Rambojun upset the fifth-seed from Trinity University, winning 8-4 over Hao Nguyen and Christian Settles. They will play the Ozarks' Angelo Ito Tost and Cole Lankford tomorrow. 

In "B" Doubles, Max Pearson and Jeremy Wilson defeated Hendrix's Eric Meyne and Joseph Donaldson 8-4 to advance against Schreiner's Carson Kirk and Matthew Jimenez, while in "C" Doubles, Tyler Norman and Kyle Brown bested Howard Payne University's Hunter Green and Jonathan Villareal.
