Southwestern handles Austin College in semifinals, 5-1

SAN ANTONIO - The 37th-ranked Southwestern men's tennis team collected a 5-1 victory over Austin College in the semfinals of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Saturday at the Al G. Hill Jr. Tennis Stadium.

The Pirates (18-6) will face No. 13 Trinity in the championship match at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Southwestern won two of three doubles tilts against the Kangaroos to take an early advantage. The Pirates then added three wins in singles play to clinch the contest.

Nickoloz Snovely, Grant Gideon and Dean Dulthummon all won in singles action to help Southwestern advance to the final match.
