Snovely named SCAC Player of the Week for second time this season

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern University sophomore Nickoloz Snovely was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. It marked the second time this year that he earned the conference's weekly honor.

Snovely, who also picked up the accolade on March 1, led the Pirates to a 9-0 victory over Concordia Texas last Wednesday in Georgetown.

The Pearland native picked up two wins in the match. Snovely and Grant Gideon teamed up to post an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles. He then posted a straight-sets win over Gabriel Borunda in a matchup of regionally-ranked foes at No. 1 singles.

Snovely has amassed a 7-3 record in singles action, all at the top spot. He and Gideon are 9-2 in doubles play.

Southwestern returns to action Tuesday, as the squad travels to Brownwood for a non-conference match with Howard Payne. First serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
