RICHARDSON, Texas – The Southwestern men's tennis squad earned two victories on Saturday. The Pirates cruised to a 7-2 win over Austin College and picked up a 5-4 triumph versus Texas-Dallas.
In the opener, Southwestern swept the three doubles matchups. The Pirates then won at the top three singles spots and the fourth position.
Southwestern held a 2-1 lead following doubles competition at Texas-Dallas. The two teams split the six singles tilts, but Alonso Fernandez clinched the match for the Pirates with a win at No. 6 singles.
Nick Farmen also chipped in at the second position after rallying from a 3-0 deficit in the second set to win 6-4.
Southwestern will continue its road trip next Saturday with a pair of matches. The Pirates will face LeTourneau in Longview at 10 a.m. before heading over to Tyler to meet Texas-Tyler six hours later.
