Men's Lacrosse Unable to Close out Against Rams

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Pirate Men's Lacrosse (0-5) went head to head against the Farmingdale State Rams (4-1) on Monday afternoon to begin their spring break swing. The Pirates gave up seven goals in the first quarter to the Rams but held them to under four goals in the following quarters. Down 10-5 at halftime, Southwestern responded with a six-goal third quarter and three in the fourth. But the Pirate's second-half momentum wasn't enough to close the gap, and they fell by a score of 14-17. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jackson Strauser gained a new career high in goals against the Rams, scoring seven goals for his third multi-goal game of the year. 
  • Cade McDonald was second on the team in points with five on the day, notching three goals and two assists, his third game with five or more points. 
  • The Southwestern faceoff specialist were dead even at 50% on the day. Trey Pena and Ryder Voelker picked up four and three ground balls, respectively. 

NOTES

  • The Pirates were nearly even with the Rams in all statistical categories, including saves, turnovers, and ground balls.
  • Farmingdale State caused twice as many turnovers as the Pirates with ten on the afternoon. 
  • The Pirate offense assisted on over half of their goals throughout the contest (14G, 8A).
