Men's Lacrosse Falls in Season Opener to BSC, 22-18

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Men's Lacrosse traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to face the Birmingham-Southern Panthers in their season opener on Saturday, February 10th at 12:00 PM on General Krulak Field. In a high-scoring affair to kick off 2024, the Pirates fell to the Panthers by a margin of 22-18. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Matt Caldwell came away from the contest with eight points on four goals and four assists, leading the team in goals and assists
  • Cade McDonald tied the team-high in goals with four while adding one assist and four ground balls. 
  • Jackson Strauser scored a hat trick on the day tallying three goals and one assist. 
  • Alex Hudgins tied for second on the team in points with five, notching three goals and two assists. 

NOTES

  • Anthony Caudillo went 15/24 from the faceoff dot while the Pirates as a whole went 27/44 on the afternoon. 
  • Eight different Pirates tallied goals in the contest. 
  • Freshman faceoff man Trey Pena went 12/19 at the faceoff in his first career outing.
