GEORGETOWN, Texas – Despite falling 13-7 to Colorado College in the SCAC Championship game, Southwestern played their best ball to-date and put on an impressive show for fans.

It was a balanced start to the game as both teams gathered their bearings in the mist that blanketed the field. Colorado was the first on the board four minutes in as Jack Kreitler scored after hitting the post on his previous attempt.

The Tigers took a two goal lead as Ian Pelto scored unassisted with 9:22 to go in the first quarter. Southwestern quickly responded as the Pirates took advantage of a CC turnover as Tyler Downing raced through the Tiger defense to score SU's first goal with 8:17 to play.

CC added two goals before Jackson Timian closed the gap to two goals, 4-2, with an unassisted goal with 5:46 on the clock. Colorado closed the frame with three goals to end the first with a five goal lead, 7-2.

Three and a half minutes into the second, CC took their first six goal lead after Austin Davie scored, giving Colorado an 8-2 lead. Southwestern refused to let up, however, as they scored two goals in the final minute of the half to cut the deficit to four, 8-4, by halftime. Alex Michael scored unassisted with 51 seconds remaining and Jeremy Tufnell, assisted by Kyle Anderson, added a beautiful quick-hitter goal with 19 seconds left.

Southwestern struck first to open the third quarter and set the tone for the frame. Austin Fox found Michael Villa five yards from goal and Villa found the back of the net to pull SU within three, 8-5. Colorado's Jack McCormick, assisted by Austin Davie, extended the lead to four, 9-5, but Fox quickly brought the Pirates back within three with just under five minutes to play in the third. CC closed the quarter with a goal to head into the final quarter with a four goal lead, 10-6, over Southwestern.

Colorado scored off the opening faceoff of the fourth quarter and controlled most of the frame to hold off Southwestern's charge. Fox and Downing teamed up for a man-up goal with 12 minutes remaining, but that was the only goal scoring of the frame for Southwestern as CC posted three in the frame to arrive at the 13-7 final.

Southwestern trailed 60-24 in shots and 17-7 in faceoffs but committed just three more turnovers in the loss. CC took the ground ball battle 44-31 and successfully converted all 17 clears while SU went 20-25.

Charlie Fisher garnered the loss but was strong in goal, facing 28 shots on goal and recording 15 saves. CC's Chase Murphy earned the win with seven saves on 14 shots.

Kreitler and Austin Davie led with three goals each while Dylan Davie posted a game high three assists for the Tigers. Southwestern was led offensively by Fox who had two goals and one assist. Anderson led SU with five ground balls while Dakota Skinner caused three turnovers.

Southwestern ends the year with their best record ever at 10-5 overall.
