Pirates stunned by Whittier in 11-10 loss

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern never trailed until Whittier closed the game on a 4-0 run and scored the game-winning goal with 3.7 seconds left, handing the Pirates their third loss of the season. 

Southwestern led by two at halftime, 6-4, and held a three goal advantage with nine and a half minutes remaining. 

SU's tenth goal of the game, third by Kai Knight-Turcan, with 9:23 to play in the fourth quarter would be their last as the offense went eerily quiet. Whittier won five straight faceoffs as the Pirates were held without a shot in the last nine minutes. 

Knight-Turcan led with three goals and one assist while Logan Spalding added two goals and one assist and Spence Bodenhamer one goal and two assists. 

Kyle Kuberski posted 12 saves on the afternoon while Bodenhamer and Matthew Montagne snagged four groundballs each. 

Southwestern (4-3) remains at home to face Northwestern-MN (0-2) on Tuesday night. First faceoff is set for 7 pm.
