Men’s lacrosse take easy win over Gents

Southwestern piled on 13 first half goals to win 20-2 over Centenary College in Shreveport Sunday.

The Pirates wasted no time taking control, scoring less than two minutes in to kick off a 5-0 through the first quarter. Matt Amerie scored his first of a game-high four goals minutes into the second quarter. Centenary finally got on the board with 9:34 to play in the second, taking advantage of a man-up opportunity.

SU then rattled off seven goals to close the quarter and take a 12 goal lead, 13-1, into the locker room at halftime.

As the second half got underway, Southwestern picked up where they left off with seven second half goals while holding Centenary to just one to arrive at the 20-2 final.

Amerie led offensively with four goals and one assist while Connor Koper posted two goals and three assists. Dakota Butler and Brandon Hanley both had three goals. Charlie Fisher recorded one save while Evan Carlson posted six saves in 30 minutes in goal. Julian Quintero and Connor Koper picked up five ground balls each.

Southwestern improves to 3-2 on the year with the win. They remain on the road to face Birmingham Southern on Saturday at noon.
