Men's lacrosse edged out by Rhodes 12-9

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Southwestern trailed by just one goal at halftime but were never able to take the lead, falling 12-9 to Rhodes College Sunday. 

SU led twice in the first quarter but Rhodes went on a 7-1 run throughout the second quarter and part of the third to put SU down 10-5. 

The Pirates rattled off three goals to close the gap but RC stayed just out of reach, handing Southwestern their first loss of the season. 

Spence Bodenhamer and Jared Welsh had two goals each to lead for the Pirates and Kai Knight-Turcan posted a team high two assists. Zane Abbott logged five ground balls to lead SU. 

Southwestern (2-1) comes for for the first time this season for their next game, hosting the University of Dallas on Wednesday, February 22nd at 7 pm.
