Hudson Bearden Becomes Men's Lacrosse's First All-American

Southwestern men's lacrosse face-off specialist Hudson Bearden set a program milestone, becoming the first Pirate in men's lacrosse history to earn All-American recognition when the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association named him Honorable Mention.

Bearden, a senior from Aledo, Texas, won 236-of-330 face-off opportunities, finishing eighth in the nation in face-off winning percentage (0.713), leading Southwestern to the 13th-best face-off winning percentage in the country (0.663). He also finished 18th in ground balls with 9.12 per game, earning All-Heartland First Team.

He set Southwestern single-season records in face-off wins, face-off win percentage, ground balls (146), and ground balls per game. In addition, Bearden also scored three goals with three assists.

Bearden wraps his career as Southwestern's all-time leader in multiple categories. His 465 career face-off wins are the most in program history, surpassing Julian Quintero's '17 record of 381. In addition, his .752 career face-off win percentage breaks Zane Abbott's '20 mark of 0.650. Bearden also owns the record for most career ground balls with 292, finishing ahead of Sean Smith's '18 188, and the most ground balls per game with 10.07.

Southwestern ended the season with an 11-5 record, finishing as the runner-up to Colorado College in the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference.
