Pirates Win Both SCAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards

The Southwestern University Pirates men's lacrosse team continues to pick up individual accolades, earning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) men's lacrosse offensive and defensive player of the week awards for games played from March 4-10. 

Southwestern split its two games last week, picking up a 20-12 win over Chatham University and currently sit at 4-2 on the season after a Monday night victory over Cornell College. 

Everett Barger of Southwestern University, a senior midfielder from San Francisco, Calif., has been named the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 4 through Sunday, March 10.

Through two contests last week, Barger tallied six goals and two assists, totaling eight points to lead the Pirates to a 1-1 record. In Southwestern's win over Chatham, Barger collected four goals and two assists.

Other Outstanding Performances

Freshman attack Elliot Nelson of Colorado College netted the first hat-trick of his career in the Tigers' win over Rhodes on Saturday.

Bailey Middleton of Southwestern University, a junior defenseman from Austin, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 4 through Sunday, March 10. 

Middleton anchored the Pirates' defense last week, causing four turnovers and picking up six ground balls during the two-game stretch. The Southwestern defense held previously undefeated Chatham to 12 goals, nine less than its season average of 21 per game.

Other Outstanding Performances:

Colorado College freshman LSM John Lawrence secured three ground balls and forced two turnovers in the Tigers' 17-11 win over Rhodes.
