Tigers Hop Over Pirates in Conference Play

GEORGETOWN, Texas -  Colorado College bested the Pirates on Easter Sunday as CC topped Southwestern 15-4 in SCAC conference action.

The Tigers scored 11 straight goals, three in the first quarter and six in the second, to send the Pirates into the break down 11-0.

The Pirates came out to begin a response and got on the board with a goal from Jeremy Tufnell with 12:40 to go in the third. CC came back, however, and pushed their lead to 12 with two goals in the final five minutes of the third.

As the fourth quarter got underway, Colorado College scored two goals in the first minute to extend their lead. Three goals in the final frame form the Pirates, two by Jamie Long and another by Tufnell, brought Southwestern to the 15-4 final.

Colorado College took 20 more shots than Southwestern, 43-23, and committed three fewer turnovers. Charlie Fisher saw a lot of action in goal and recorded 15 saves on 29 shots in the contest while CC's Chase Murphy recorded nine saves on 13 shots.

Southwestern falls to 5-7 on the year and 2-1 in the SCAC while Colorado College improves to 8-4 and 2-0. SU hits the road once again to face Centenary in their next contest on April 5th at 7 p.m. in Shreveport, LA.
