GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - In an announcement made at this year's SCAC Baseball conference tournament, Southwestern University's Maxwell Mims was named the 2024 SCAC Baseball Elite 19 award winner.
Mims, a senior outfielder from Friendswood, Texas, was recognized as a First Team outfielder and the 2024 SCAC Player-of-the-Year during the same awards ceremony. An Economics/Finance Major with a cumulative GPA of 3.91, Mims' selection marks the second time a Southwestern baseball player has won the Elite 19 award, following Colton Hunter in 2020. It is the 24th all-time Elite 19 honor for a Southwestern student-athlete, the second-most by any institution and trailing only Colorado College's 28 total awards.
Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each conference sponsored-sport as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First or Second Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
