IRVING, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates baseball team defeated the University of Dallas 10-3 in Game 2 to sweep Saturday's doubleheader, bringing their winning streak to four.

Dallas struck first with a two-out, two-RBI single from Zachary Taylor in the bottom of the first. Southwestern starting pitcher Benjamin Ludwig settled in the rest of the way, throwing seven innings while striking out five with three earned runs. The bullpen did its job with Mitchell Parker and Brooks Raby, each throwing a scoreless inning.

The Pirates did most of their damage in the top of the second, with the first seven hitters reaching safely. Daniel Montgomery Jr. opened the inning by getting hit by a pitch. Alexander Cannata followed with a single to left field. Landon Durdin drew a walk, and Trent Raschke reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Montgomery while Durdin was put out at second.

Cannata scored on a throwing error, Lobkowicz walked, and Mims hit an RBI-single to right-center, followed by Lance Kruse's sacrifice fly to score Lobkowicz. Maxwell Mims scored the fifth and final run of the inning on a throwing error.

Southwestern added four more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a three-RBI double to center field from Rashke, scoring Durdin, Witt, and Jacob Tanner. Montgomery drew a walk with bases loaded in the sixth to add the Pirates' final run. Dallas added its final run on a sacrifice fly from Joseph Vondrachek to score Grady Birmingham.

Southwestern improves to 7-9 on the season and 4-1 in conference play with the win. Dallas drops to 4-10, including 2-3 in conference play. Both teams will finish the three-game series on Sunday at noon.
