GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Baseball headed out to west Texas this weekend to kick off their season in a three-game series against Sul Ross State on Friday and Saturday in Alpine, Texas. The Pirates scored a combined twenty-nine runs in the three games against the Lobos, sweeping the series and starting off the season 3-0.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Maxwell Mims hit two home runs with five RBIs off of three total hits in game one.
- Pitchers Greg Ferguson and Andrew Hardin both recorded saves in games one and two respectively.
- James Vaquero hit home runs in both game one and game two on Friday night. He scored six total runs in the first two games.
- Jacob Tanner drove in four runs off four hits in game two. He also hit a home run in game three.
- Nine different Pirates recorded hits in game three on Saturday with four different players hitting home runs.
- Alexander Cannata and Owen Stevenson both notched home runs in game three.
NOTES
- Ryan Corbett and Carson Brown both gained wins as pitchers in games one and two respectively. Brown threw eight strikeouts in game two.
- Stephen Rutherford struck out ten batters in game three on Saturday, putting a win in his record column.
- Five different Pirates had multiple hits in game three.
- Southwestern averaged two stolen bases per game over the weekend with six total in three games.
