
Southwestern freshman outfielder Maxwell Mims was recognized nationally, earning a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for his performances in five games from April 12-18.
Mims drove the Southwestern offense through a 3-2 week, hitting 9-for-17 (.529) with a 1.235 slugging percentage. Mims showcased his power (three home runs), speed (one triple, two stolen bases), and discipline at the plate (four walks). He finished the week with 13 RBIs and six runs scored. He was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in the Pirates' win over Texas Lutheran University.
For the season, Mims leads Southwestern in hits (40), batting average (.412), slugging percentage (.670), RBIs (34), and runs scored. He's third in the SCAC in batting average, second in RBIs, third in total bases 65), and first in triples (five). The Pirates are 15-14 this season with a 10-5 conference record.
