LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southwestern University senior Jeremy Rice was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Rice hurled a nine-inning no-hitter in Southwestern's 21-0 victory over Blackburn on Friday night at Rockwell Field. The right-hander struck out seven batters and faced only one batter over the minimum to accomplish the feat. The Houston native also threw 113 pitches, including 80 strikes.

The Pirates (11-11) will return to action this weekend at Schreiner. The three-game SCAC series is slated to open at 2 p.m. Friday in Kerrville.
