RICHARDSON, Texas – Texas-Dallas pounded out 16 hits and cruised to an 11-3 win over Southwestern on Monday afternoon at UTD Baseball Field.
The Comets (10-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Pirates (4-7) plated their first run.
Southwestern managed only six hits on the day. Colby Schmidt and Cole Kelly had two hits apiece, while Schmidt also drove in a run. Cameron Cooper and Ben Little both drove in runs for the Bucs.
The Comets plated a run in the opening inning and added another in the third. Two innings later, Texas-Dallas scored four times to put the game out of reach.
Colton Hunter (1-1) suffered the loss after yielding six runs (five earned) on eight hits over 4.1 innings.
The Pirates will continue its road trip this weekend at East Texas Baptist.
