GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern University sophomore Colby Schmidt was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, the online publication announced on Tuesday morning.

Schmidt, a catcher from Liberty Hill, led the Pirates to a 2-1 record at last weekend's Firehouse Classic in Montgomery, Alabama. He batted .615 (8 for 13) with three doubles and 13 RBIs. The right-handed hitter also totaled 11 bases, which translated to an .846 slugging percentage. He reached base at a .643 clip and provided the walk-off single in Southwestern's come-from-behind, 13-12 win over Oglethorpe in Friday's season opener.

Schmidt and the rest of the Pirates (2-1) will host Huntingdon (1-4) in a three-game set at Rockwall Field this weekend. The series is scheduled to open at 6 p.m. Friday and conclude with a 1 p.m. doubleheader the following day.
