Southwestern wins regular-season finale on Monday, 6-5

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Michael Ilardi slid across the plate to score the winning run on a wild pitch in the 10th inning, and Southwestern defeated Texas-Tyler, 6-5, in the regular-season finale on Monday evening at Rockwell Field.

"It all started with Thomas O'Brien, who came up big with a pinch-hit double in the 10th," head coach R.J. Thomas said. "Then Ben [Little] moved [Ilardi] over on a fly ball and we got a little bit of luck to finish it off."

The Pirates (16-23) will head to the SCAC Championship this weekend in Seguin. Southwestern, which earned the No. 4 seed, will face top-seeded Texas Lutheran at 1 p.m. Friday in the opening round.
