Offensive Woes Plague Pirates

Offensive Woes Plague Pirates

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern's offense struggled while Dallas steadily put runs across the plate and lost 10-0 in 7 innings.

Farris tripled and was the first for the Crusaders to score.  Berry earned the RBI on a fielder's choice.  Then Dallas had 2 RBI singles to put them up 3-0.

Southwestern put the ball in play, but only earned 2 hits in the game. In each of the 2nd and 3rd innings, Charlie Garrett and later Dillon O'Dell were on third base in position to score.  However, UD was able to keep the Pirates from crossing the plate.

The University of Dallas added a run a piece in each of the 4th and 5th innings to extend their lead to 5-0.  They put the game away in the 7th by putting 5 more runs on the board and held SU in the bottom half to earn the 10-0 win.

The win went to UD's Martin Cronin, who pitched a complete game, giving up only 2 hits, no runs, a walk and had 7 strikeouts.  The Pirates were led by Dillon O'Dell, who went 1-2 with a double and Cruz Luna, who went 1-3.

The Pirates will now be back on the road, as they take on Mary-Hardin Baylor this Tuesday, April 9th, at 7:00PM.
