Box Score

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Southwestern baseball team dropped a tough 3-1 decision to Hendrix College on Saturday night at Rockwell Field.

The loss drops the Pirates to 15-21 (8-10 SCAC), while Hendrix College improves to 17-20 (9-9 SCAC).

The game was a pitcher's duel from the first inning, as Southwestern starter Wes Willis and Hendrix College starter Jordan Suydam shut down the opposing offenses. Both teams were held scoreless for the first three innings until Hendrix College scratched a run across in the fourth inning to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

Willis and Suydam continued to put up zeroes on the scoreboard until the Pirates tied it in the sixth on John Wooten's sac fly even the score at 1-1.

Hendrix College responded in the top of the seventh inning with a pair of runs to reclaim the lead at 3-1.

The score remained the same the rest of the game, as the Pirates were unable to mount a rally and fell 3-1.

Despite pitching the complete game, Willis incurred the loss to fall to 6-4. Willis allowed three runs over nine innings of work while fanning seven while allowing no walks. Jordan Suydam picked up the win for the Warriors, while Wheeler Gnat earned the save.

The Pirates and Warriors continue the series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. at Rockwell Field.
