BASEBALL DROPS TWO AT TRINITY

The Pirate's baseball team dropped two games at conference rival Trinity on Friday 10-0 and 6-2. With the losses, SU falls to 15-19 overall and 8-8 in the conference while Trinity moves to 18-17 overall and 9-7 in SCAC conference action. Southwestern falls to third place in the conference, just one game below Trinity and one game above fourth place Hendrix.

The Pirates struggled at the plate in game one, posting only three hits and scoring no runs. Trinity consistently put runs on the board throughout the game and took the 10-0 victory in seven innings. Chris Churchwell garnered the loss for Southwestern to fall to 2-4 on the season. Trinity's Bronson earned the win to improve to 5-3.

RF John Wooten led the way at the plate for Southwestern going 1-1 with two walks. DH Brent McMullen and SS Matthew Clark were the other Pirates with hits.

Southwestern hit much better from the plate in game two, but were unable to string enough hits together to threaten Trinity. The Tigers led 6-0 through the seventh inning and the Pirates put two runs on the board in the eighth inning, but that is close as they could get.

Brantley Freeman received the loss to fall to 5-2 on the season while Trinity's Solomon remained unbeaten with the win to improve to 5-0.

CF Todd Boone went 2-3 with one run scored in game two and was joined in the multi-hit category by C Michael Murphy who was 2-4 with one RBI.

The Pirates wrap up their series against Trinity with one game on Saturday beginning at 2:00 pm.
