2009 (Senior)
Played in 15 games for the Pirates and started five times...had five hits in 24 at bats for a .208 batting average...had one homerun and two RBI's...posted a .333 slugging percentage and .424 on base percentage...committed just one error for a .976 fielding percentage.

2008 (Junior)
Made 13 appearances on the mound...in 13.1 innings of work he allowed 24 hits, 16 earned runs for a 10.80 ERA.

2007 (Sophomore)
Gruetzner appeared in 1 game in his second season for the Pirates as an outfielder...making one plate appearance for one at bat...had a 1.000 fielding percentage in 4 chances had 4 assists...on the mound he appeared in 16 games...had 2-2 W-L record and had a 7.71 ERA in 21.0 innings pitched..had 2 saves on the year...walked 10 batters and struckout 16 on the season.

2006 (First Year)
Gruetzner appeared in 9 games in his first year as a Pirate...had a 7.71 ERA in 16.1 innings on the mound...ended up with a 2-1 W-L record and registered 12 Ks on the season...had a .750 fielding percentage with 4 chances recording 3 assists.

High School
Gruetzner was an Academic All-District pick for four years, a First Team All-District pitcher in 2004, the team MVP in 2004, a Second Team All-District pitcher in 2005 and a First Team All-District outfielder in 2005, as well as being the Golf MVP as a freshman and lettered four years in golf, three in baseball, earned one letter in soccer and three in track for the Bears at Bastrop HS.

Matt is the son of Glenn and Carol Gruetzner...born on May 16, 1987...has two sisters - Katherine and Madison...is a business major and has a minor in spanish at SU.
