GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Men's Lacrosse (0-6) took the field against the U-Mass Boston Beacons (4-1) looking for their first win of the 2024 season. The Pirates took the game all the way down to the final seconds, returning from a 15-11 deficit late in the contest and scoring seven goals in the fourth quarter. The Pirate's late run gained them the 18-17 victory at Varsity Field.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Matt Caldwell was tied for the team-high in points on Wednesday, scoring five goals and two assists.
- Cade McDonald tied Caldwell for points in the game with seven on six goals and one assist.
- Will Walsh saved 51% of his shots, collecting eighteen saves and seventeen goals allowed. This was his first time going over fifty percent on the season.
- Alex Hudgins and Matthew Houtz each netted hat tricks for the game, Hudgins left the game with five points and Houtz with four.
NOTES
- The Pirates out-ground balled the Beacons by a margin of 55-39.
- The Southwestern faceoff unit went 64% at the dot, taking 25/39 faceoffs from the Beacons.
- Eleven penalties were called in the matchup between both teams. Southwestern went 2-5 on man-up.
