GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Men's lacrosse find themselves with a 6-4 record after traveling to Colorado Springs to face both the Wooster Scots and the Colorado College Tigers. The Pirates had their work cut out for them against two powerful opponents in Wooster, who is now 8-0 on the season, and Colorado College, whom the Pirates have never beaten.

Wooster came into the matchup against Southwestern 6-0 on the season and looked formitable in all aspects as a team. The first quarter came to an end with a score of 3-2 in favor of Wooster, but the Scots would shut out the Pirates in the second, going a perfect 4-4 on the faceoff and out-ground balling the Pirates by a 15-4 margin. Wooster put up three more goals in the second to bring the score to 6-2 by the end of the half.

Wooster again shut the Pirates out in the third quarter and went on to score five goals in the third alone. Southwestern was unable to get anything going on the faceoff as they went 1-5 for the quarter and just 6-25 for the game. The dominant third quarter for Wooster gave them an 11-2 lead headed into the fourth.

The Pirates were able to string together some offense in the final quarter, but it would be too little too late. Blake Sitterly and Matt Caldwell combined for four of the Pirates six goals in the final quarter, but Wooster put up three more goals to ride out a 14-8 victory over Southwestern.

Wooster had a successful trip to Colorado as they went on to beat Colorado College, 15-10, on the following day.

The Pirates hoped to take advantage of a downed Tiger team that sat at 2-5 on the season after losing to Wooster. However, the loss to the Scots seemed to spur on the Tigers, who came out firing on all cylinders on their home turf. The Tigers put up eight goals in the first quarter and followed it up with nine more in the second, blitzing the Pirates to make the score 17-2 at halftime.

The Pirates came out at halftime determined to stop the bleeding and were able to do so throughout the second half. Southwestern outscored the Tigers 10-4 in the half, but the first half was insurmountable, and the final score would end up 21-12 in favor of the Tigers.

Men's lacrosse will attempt to get back on track against the Elmhurst Bluejays on Wednesday, March 22nd at 7:00 PM on Varsity Field.
