
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A rain-soaked evening on the road led to Southwestern's second straight loss as they fell 13-9 to Birmingham-Southern Saturday.
Southwestern trailed by just one goal at halftime, 4-3, and at the end of the third quarter, 8-7.
Jordan Riggs brought the Pirates even 8-8 just 15 seconds in the fourth quarter, but Southwestern was unable to net the go-ahead as BSC scored five straight to take a commanding lead the Pirates could not overcome.
Matt Amerie led with three goals while Jordan Riggs chipped in two. Southwestern was +1 in turnovers but -5 in ground balls while nearly even in faceoffs.
The Pirates fall to 5-5 on the year and face Huntingdon on Monday at 6 pm.
