Men's Lacrosse Beats Spalding

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern men's lacrosse met Spalding University in their second conference game of the season on Tuesday. Spalding, a first-year varsity program out of Louisville, Kentucky, came into the game 0-6 on the season, while the Pirates held a 5-2 record, 1-0 in conference play. 

Senior attackman Logan Kenny got the start for the Pirates against the Eagles and made the most of it. Kenny put together four goals in just the first quarter of play thanks to multiple teammates' heads-up assists. Kenny helped Southwestern out to a 12-0 lead at the end of the first quarter against the Eagles. 

Head Coach Bill Bowman had the opportunity to empty his bench, allowing his younger and older players to see game action. The game featured sixteen different goal scorers for Southwestern. William Howell Jr., Nate Duncan, and Tyler Johnson all tallied over two assists sharing the ball amongst their teammates. 

As a result of the 29-1 victory over Spalding, sophomore attackman Cade McDonald and Duncan now lead the Pirates in goals on the season with nineteen a piece. Johnson leads the Pirates with thirteen assists, Duncan leads in overall points with thirty, and Howell now is the team leader in ground balls with thirty-nine, followed by McDonald with thirty-eight and senior defender Will Thompson with thirty-one. 

Men's Lacrosse will have their first road game in the month of March, traveling to the campus of Colorado College to play Wooster in a neutral site game on Friday, the 17th, and Colorado College on Sunday, March 18th, at 1:00 PM CST.
