SHREVEPORT, La. — Senior attacker Jacob Hamilton scored a career-high five goals, and the Southwestern men's lacrosse team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 19-2 victory over the Centenary Gentlemen.

"After a tough, short-handed loss the day before, it was great to see the entire team back together for the first time in over three weeks against a much improved Centenary team," head coach Bill Bowman said. "I was pleased with the way the guys responded today and really focused on execution and it showed in their play."

The Pirates dominated possession from the start. Hudson Bearden won 22 of the game's 23 faceoff opportunities, bringing his season percentage to 0.845, which is third in the nation at the Division III level. Bearden also grabbed 16 ground balls, bringing his per-game average to 13.67, which also ranks third in the nation.

Southwestern scored the first 15 goals of the game. The Pirates moved the ball well, assisting on 10 of their 19 goals. Matt Caldwell and Zac Asbury each scored three goals, and Jack Carolan led the Pirates with three assists.

Centenary goalie Thomas Siskron had the busiest afternoon on the field, recording 24 saves as the Pirates overwhelmed the Gentlemen with 43 shots on goal. Drew Alvarado had three saves on five shots on goal in the net for the Pirates. Southwestern finished with 56 shot attempts to Centenary's 13.

The Pirates scored three goals on nine man-up opportunities while limiting Centenary to just one goal on six man-up attempts. Southwestern will travel to Rhodes College next Saturday for a noon game.
