Alex Melitz Named SCAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Southwestern University Pirates men's lacrosse goalie Alex Melitz was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Pirates' 16-8 victory over Berry College.

The sophomore goalkeeper from Cedar Grove, N.J. had nine saves, stopping 64.3 percent of the shots he faced on Saturday. Through three games, Melitz has 25 saves and three wins.

The Pirates will return to action on Saturday, March 7 on the road against Centenary in Shreveport, La. at 1:00 p.m.
