The Southwestern University Pirates men's lacrosse team swept the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards in the season's opening weekend.

Sophomore faceoff specialist Hudson Bearden was named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week, helping Southwestern dominate possession with 10 ground balls and winning 12 of 16 face offs in the Pirates' 15-8 victory over the Hendrix Warriors in the season opener.

This is Bearden's first career SCAC Player of the Week award. Teammate Zac Asbury was the SCAC Offensive Player of the Week. Southwestern is 1-0 to open the season and will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 15 against Birmingham-Southern.
