PIRATES RETURN TO FIELD, FALL TO BSC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Southwestern's lacrosse team got out to a slow start on Friday evening as they dropped their second consecutive SCAC contest, falling to Birmingham-Southern 20-3.  SU slips to 1-10 overall and 1-3 in the conference with one game to play.

BSC came out blazing, amassing a 10-0 lead going into the break before the Pirates jumped back into action. Jamie Long got the Pirates on the board with two and a half a minutes remaining in the third quarter bringing the score to 14-1.

After four more goals by Birmingham Southern Southwestern scored once again when Edward Williams put one in with 8:14 to play in the fourth. Long added his second of the game with three and a half to play putting the final at 20-3.

Donnie Murray and Chris O'Quain were kept busy in goal as BSC took 63 shots and the duo amassed 24 saves. The Pirates were bested in every statistical category including ground balls (59-23) and faceoffs (5-27).

The Pirates close out their season on Sunday at Sewanee at 12:00 pm.
