GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Softball (4-18, 1-3) fell in the first game of the three-game conference series to the Schreiner Mountaineers (1-18, 0-3) on Friday Night. The Pirates the game 3-0 till the bottom of the fifth inning, where the Mountaineers rallied to make it 3-2 going into the sixth. Schreiner manufactured two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the win from the Pirates in walk-off fashion, 3-4.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Erica Otto and Samantha Saenz led the Pirates in hits with two a piece.
- Meghan McCarthy drove in two runs for the contest in the top of the first and fifth innings.
- McCarthy and Jodi Glenn-Millhouse both collected extra-base hits against the Mountaineers.
NOTES
- Pitcher Jaden Wheeler went 6.2 innings with six strikeouts and two earned runs.
- The Pirates had four errors, while Schreiner was clean with zero.
- Southwestern stole two bases with none for the Mountaineers.
