LONGVIEW, TX- Softball traveled for a doubleheader to play LeTourneau and East Texas Baptist University on Tuesday, March 7th. 

The Letourneau Yellowjackets came into game one with a record of 6-4, and both teams put up a great defensive battle at the start of the game. The Pirates got on the scoreboard first in the 4th inning with a Meghan McCarthy single that brought in Otto for the score. Later in the 4th, Alex Fletes also singled, and Brooke Yanta was able to get to homeplate on an unearned score. The Yellowjackets tied it up fairly quickly and both teams were 2-2 after the 7th inning. The Pirates went on a huge run in the top of the 8th, increasing their score 6-2. Ultimately, that was enough for Southwestern as they finished the game out in 8 innings, 6-4. 

The Pirates lost game two of the doubleheader versus E. Texas Bapist 0 to 12 in 5 innings. 

The Pirates are now 5-10. They host Piedmont for a doubleheader on Friday, March 11 at 3:00 and 5:00pm at Taylor Sanders Field.
