GEORGETOWN, Texas – Senior pitcher Lindsey Longuet threw the first no-hitter of her collegiate career, shutting down the Austin College Kangaroos in the Southwestern University Pirates' 8-0 victory to open the three-game conference series.

The reigning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Pitcher of the year was absolutely dominant, opening the game by striking out the first two hitters she faced on her way to 11 for the game, matching the second time she's reached double-digit strikeouts this season.

Longuet flirted with perfection for most of the game, retiring the Kangaroos in order in the first by striking out two of three and striking out the side in the second and third innings before hitting a batter in the top of the fourth. She opened the top of the fifth with another strikeout, then induced a ground out and pop out to shortstop to end the game, improving to 6-3 on the season.

Southwestern provided its ace with plenty of run support, scoring in each of the Pirates' four innings at bat.

Katelyn Francis put the Pirates on the board in the bottom of the first with a two-out RBI single to first, scoring Kaitlynn Copher, who reached on a double to right field.

The Pirates did almost all og their damage with two outs again in the second with Sydney Scott hitting a two-out, two-RBI double to left field, scoring Jordan Farber and Sam Martinez. Tori Montemayor followed with a RBI-single to center, scoring Scott, and Copher brought Montemayor in with a RBI-double to right field.

After Andrea Hern and Jessey Nunez opened the bottom of the third with back-to-back singles, the Pirates plated a run when Hern scored on an error by the catcher.

Southwestern added two more in the bottom of the fourth when Montemayor doubled and Alex Fletes scored on an errant throw by right fielder Avery Atencio; then Copher followed with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Montemayor.

The Pirates finished with 12 hits, led by Montemayor and Copher, who each went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Montemayor added two runs scored and Copher added one run scored.

With the win, the Pirates improve to 9-5 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. Longuet leads the SCAC in wins (6) and strikeouts (63), coming in at third in Earned Run Average (1.45).
