NCFA All-American Scholar-Athlete Honors For Softball

GEORGETOWN, TX- The Southwestern University Softball team had eleven Student-Athletes earn the honor of being named an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete. 

The NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) gives this honor to athletes who achieve a 3.5 or better GPA on 4.0 scale.

Brianna Gonzales - Freshman
Calle Collier - Freshman
Emily Nevarez - Freshman
Erica Otto - Sophomore
Jessey Nunez - Senior
Meghan McCarthy - Sophomore
Sam Martinez - Senior
Tauryn Alexander - Freshman
 
SCHOLAR-ATHLETE NOMINATIONS 
  • To be eligible, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA for the 2022-23 academic year only.
    - This is not the overall GPA, which is the student-athlete's entire academic history.

  • Use of a standard 4.0 scale is required. If your school utilizes a 100-point scale, the scores MUST be converted into a 4.0 scale.
  • Rounding is not applicable (a 3.49 is NOT a 3.5 GPA)
  • Student-athletes must have given permission to have their grades released.
 
The Pirates showed continued success throughout the season in and out of the classroom by winning Game 1 of the SCAC Conference Tournament for the first time since 2019.
