Mason is a 2013 graduate of Byron Nelson HS. While there he earned All-State Academic honors all four years and was a member of the National Honor Society in 2012 and 2013.

Mason is the son of Heidi and Greg Carmichael and he has one brother, Travis Carmichael. He is majoring in English at Southwestern.
