GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Southwestern University men's soccer took the game against the St. Thomas Celts into double overtime before tying their last Southern Athletic Colligate Conference (SCAC) game of the season.

In a very physical game, Southwestern was the first to take advantage on the offense by attacking St. Thomas's goalie Rodrigo Lazo. Mofe Ariyo took the first shot, which was saved by Lazo, and then Richard Maybury took another shot that was also saved. After these two shots, the Pirates could not find another opportunity offensively and neither could St. Thomas, so the first half ended 0-0.

The second half started slow for both teams as neither St. Thomas nor Southwestern were able to build a good offense. The Celts were able to break through after the first ten minutes and started to attack the Pirate goal. St. Thomas took eight shots at in the second half, while Southwestern only took one, but Pirate goalie Jackson Krueger picked up two saves and forced the game into overtime.

In the first overtime, both teams kept each other from making any significant offensive surges. Skyler Frey attempted a wide left shot at the Celt's goal, but the overtime would end scoreless. Once again neither team found any way to score a much-needed goal in double overtime, so the match ended in a tie.

Up next, Southwestern University men's soccer team will get ready for the SCAC Championship tournament that the Centenary College Gents will host. The games will be in Shreveport, LA, on the weekend of April 23-25.
