Men's Soccer Shuts Down Centenary Again

Men's Soccer Shuts Down Centenary Again

SHREVEPORT, La. — Southwestern men's soccer swept its regular-season games against Centenary, defeating the Gentlemen 1-0 on the road in regulation.

Sophomore forward Mofe Ariyo scored his first goal of the season, finding the back of the net unassisted at the 34:58 mark to put the Pirates up.

The goal was all the Southwestern defense needed, shutting down Centenary for the second time this season to earn the eighth shutout.

Southwestern held a 13-10 advantage in shots taken. The Pirates defense did its part to keep Centenary's opportunities off goal, giving Southwestern goalkeeper only one shot to save.

With the win, the Pirates improve to 7-2-3, including 2-1-1 in conference play. Southwestern will stay on the road and face St. Thomas on Sunday, Oct. 17, at 3:30 p.m.
