Assistant Coach Matt Torok
Now in his fourth season as the assistant coach of the Pirates, on the bench he has helped guide the Pirates to their two most successful finishes (sole possession of 2nd place) in SCAC play. Last season, he helped the Pirates achieve a consecutive 2nd place finish in the SCAC, with a 7-2-1 record, while the year before the Pirates ended 6-2-1 in SCAC play. Torok, a native of Reading, Pennsylvania, most recently served as the assistant men's and women's soccer coach, as well as interim head coach at Defiance College in Ohio (2003-2005). He also served as the assistant men's soccer coach at Albright College in Pennsylvania (2002). In addition to his duties at Southwestern, Torok is a trainer and coach for the Georgetown Soccer Association, a local youth soccer club. Torok played youth soccer for the nationally recognized F.C. DELCO Youth Soccer Club and went on to play at Syracuse University (NY) where he was a four year letter winner, a four year Academic All-BIG EAST selection, earned 2nd Team Verizon Academic All-District I pick in 2001 and played on nationally ranked teams as high as 18th in the country. After college, Torok played professionally for the Reading Rage in the USL for two seasons. Torok holds a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, a NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 2 Diploma, as well as a USSF National 'D' License. He holds Bachelors degrees in Sociology and Psychology from Syracuse University and in 2005 completed his Masters of Arts in Education with a concentration in Sports Science at Defiance College.
