Men's soccer wins SCAC opener

SEGUIN, Texas - Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action started Tuesday night for the Pirates and SU snagged a 1-0 win against Texas Lutheran. 

Just four minutes into the game Southwestern struck as Wil Mekelburg found Kip Karschnik with a long pass up the right side. Karschnik finished to the left of the keeper from ten yards out to put SU on top. 

From that point on Southwestern's defense took over as they held TLU scoreless. Ryan Benner posted eight saves in goal for the shutout win. 

Southwestern (3-2, 1-0) remain on the road to face Austin College in Sherman on Friday for another SCAC tilt.
