GEORGETOWN, Texas - Ryan Benner came off his line and collided with Texas-Dallas' Alfredo Kaegi in the box and was awarded a penalty kick early in the first half. Benner chose right, diving to his left post, but the ball skidded just under his outstretched arm and into the back of the net.
Southwestern had their chances to tie the game especially at the beginning of the second half but was unable to score the equalizer including a penalty kick of their own in the 83rd minute.
The Comets escaped with a 1-0 victory.
The Pirates will host Hardin-Simmons at 7 p.m. Saturday.
